Senior Backend Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid, with 3 days onsite in hirify.global offices in Chicago, Illinois; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Atlanta, Georgia; or Jacksonville, Florida

Salary: $97,935–$195,660 per year

What you will do

• Lead the development and delivery of scalable, high-quality software solutions.
• Build backend systems and user interfaces using Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
• Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and QA engineers in an agile development environment.
• Analyze complex technical problems and improve system performance, reliability, security, and code quality.
• Conduct code reviews, establish coding standards, and mentor junior engineers.
• Contribute innovative ideas and emerging technologies to the technology roadmap.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in SaaS or fintech.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and Micronaut.
• Deep understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, Git, and modern software engineering practices.
• Current and future visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar project management tools.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools.
