Staff Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Remote; Milwaukee. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and able to work core hours aligned with U.S. time zones.

Salary: $120,000–$200,000 plus equity.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain high-quality financial planning applications.
• Lead feature implementation and own end-to-end delivery from concept through deployment.
• Design scalable, maintainable software solutions and contribute to system architecture.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver new product capabilities.
• Review code, mentor teammates, and share engineering best practices.
• Triage software defects and participate in agile planning, demos, code reviews, and retrospectives.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience delivering high-quality software.
• Experience building APIs, backend systems, frontends, and application architecture.
• Deep technical expertise in one or more programming languages.
• Strong computer science fundamentals, software engineering practices, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ownership, adaptability, and ability to work with ambiguous and evolving requirements.
• U.S. work authorization without visa sponsorship is required.

Nice to have

• FinTech or startup experience.
• Experience with modern web application technologies, external data integrations, or data visualizations.
• Familiarity with Node, React, Next, Postgres, AWS services, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with security best practices, AI/ML solutions, or mobile development.
