TL;DR
Mechanical Engineer (Antenna Systems) (Precision electromechanical design): Developing precision positioning systems and electromechanical RF antenna structures across the product lifecycle with an accent on prototyping, detailed design, tolerance analysis, and reliability. Focus on designing motors, gearboxes, reflectors, feeds, and flat panel arrays, performing thermal and structural evaluations, and supporting integration and environmental testing.

Location: Duluth, Georgia, United States. US citizenship required for this US Government position.

Salary: $120,500–$190,000 annually. For specific work locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $149,500–$224,500 annually.

What you will do

  • Design, improve, and sustain precision positioning systems, including motors, gearboxes, gearing, and encoders.
  • Develop electromechanical RF structures such as reflectors, feeds, and flat panel arrays.
  • Contribute to conceptual design, trade studies, prototyping, detailed design, documentation, and tolerance analysis.
  • Participate in thermal and structural evaluations, integration activities, environmental testing, and field efforts.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Systems, RF, Digital, and Test Engineers, as well as Operations personnel.
  • Support multiple military and commercial hardware projects and own defined workstreams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in precision positioner design, electromechanical RF design, or similar work.
  • Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and design for manufacturability across casting, weldment, sheet metal, and precision machining.
  • Ability to create and review thermal, structural, and tolerance analyses.
  • Knowledge of finite element modeling techniques and software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar engineering field; ability to travel up to 10%.

Nice to have

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with Solid Edge, Creo, ANSYS, NASTRAN, or Thermal Desktop.
  • Experience with ground station antenna systems and phased array antenna structural and thermal solutions.
  • Experience designing for low- to medium-volume production.
  • Knowledge of government and military standards.
