Mechanical Engineer III - Design (Aerospace)

Location: Reno, Nevada, United States. Requires approximately 10% travel and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Salary: $97,920–$139,770 USD annual base salary for Nevada.

What you will do

• Design actuators, pressure vessels, hot gas valves, thrusters, igniters, and solid rocket motor systems.
• Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models, complex assemblies, and technical drawings using GD&T.
• Perform CFD, structural, dynamic, thermal, tolerance, and stress analyses; validate results and optimize designs.
• Analyze ceramics, insulators, advanced metals, refractory materials, and material characterization data.
• Support additive manufacturing, machining, composites, molding, casting, welding, mechanical assembly, and manufacturing planning.
• Contribute to mass budgets, requirements analysis, reliability, safety, risk management, program planning, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• Four to seven years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with CAD modeling, technical drawings, GD&T, engineering analysis, and manufacturing processes.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person under applicable ITAR and EAR export regulations.

Nice to have

• Rocket motor design and testing experience.
• Master of Science in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a relevant discipline.
• Current DoD Top Secret SCI security clearance.
