Staff Software Developer - Backend Engineering (Java)

Location: Toronto, Canada

Base pay range: CAD 164,500–222,500 per year, with potential cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Define technical requirements and use cases with cross-functional teams while driving project timelines.
• Design and implement scalable, secure, maintainable software for the API Management Platform.
• Build and evolve platform capabilities for RESTful, GraphQL, and asynchronous APIs, including API metering and access enforcement.
• Review designs and code, improve engineering standards, and address performance bottlenecks.
• Provide technical leadership, present recommendations, and mentor junior engineers.
• Apply GenAI and AI/ML tools and techniques to accelerate product innovation.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience delivering enterprise-class applications.
• 6+ years of experience building highly scalable distributed solutions with Java.
• Strong hands-on experience developing scalable microservices with REST and/or GraphQL.
• Experience designing and developing reliable cloud applications using AWS or another cloud provider.
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes and Docker, plus expertise in unit testing and Test Driven Development.
• Strong production operations, troubleshooting, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
