Senior Software Developer (Elasticsearch)

What you will do

• Contribute to core hirify.globalsearch performance engineering initiatives from development through production.
• Design and implement architectural and code-level optimizations, performance models, and methodologies for distributed systems.
• Profile system behavior and identify bottlenecks across logging, metrics, vector search, and ES|QL.
• Build benchmarks and regression detection for stateful and serverless hirify.globalsearch architectures.
• Build AI-assisted optimization harnesses for profiling, hypothesis testing, and benchmarking automation.
• Provide technical guidance and peer reviews while collaborating across teams and codebases.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of Java internals, JVM memory management, concurrency models, and high-performance thread-safe or lock-free code.
• Experience profiling and optimizing distributed systems using benchmarking tools such as JMH and Rally.
• Understanding of distributed systems architecture, partition tolerance, cluster state propagation, and large-scale data-store scaling.
• Experience using AI or advanced tooling to accelerate optimization, debug performance issues, and automate benchmarking workflows.
• Ability to work autonomously, make technical decisions, and collaborate through asynchronous, direct, and transparent communication.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating high-performance native libraries, including C++, Rust, or SIMD-accelerated code, into Java applications.
• Knowledge of storage engine performance, index modes, vector search optimization, or the internals of a large-scale data store or search engine.
• Experience defining and managing performance SLAs and success criteria for distributed systems.
