Senior Core Java Engineer (Java)

Location: Montreal, Canada

Salary: 80,000–90,000 CAD per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain highly available Java-based enterprise applications.
• Build backend services, REST APIs, and microservices for business-critical systems.
• Participate in system architecture, technical design, code reviews, and Agile delivery processes.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement sustainable solutions.
• Collaborate with product owners, business stakeholders, architects, and development teams while mentoring junior developers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience with a strong focus on Java.
• Strong knowledge of Core Java, object-oriented programming, multithreading, collections, concurrency, and JVM internals.
• Experience designing enterprise-scale applications and distributed systems, including RESTful APIs and service-oriented architectures.
• Knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL, plus Git and Linux/Unix environments.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, performance tuning, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, microservices, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or JMS.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with CI/CD, DevOps practices, NoSQL databases, or highly regulated enterprise environments.
