Engineering Tech Lead (Node)

Location: Boston or New York-based engineering team; hybrid work with a minimum of three days per week (Tuesday–Thursday) in the Boston office

Salary: $132,200–$187,550 annually, plus potential bonus or on-target incentive compensation, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design systems and APIs powering hirify.global’s real estate experience products.
• Define, develop, and evolve software in an agile environment using modern technologies and infrastructure.
• Write high-quality code focused on functionality, reliability, and application performance.
• Develop and maintain primarily NodeJS APIs hosted on AWS, including testing strategies and design discussions.
• Translate product requirements into prioritized user stories and deliver them to quality and timeline expectations.
• Troubleshoot issues, collaborate on resolutions, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to a small engineering team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in backend or full-stack development, preferably building web services at scale for a SaaS company.
• Strong expertise in NodeJS, Nest, modern JavaScript architecture, relational databases, and schema migrations.
• Significant experience with AWS or comparable cloud technologies.
• Experience with client-side JavaScript frameworks including React and Redux.
• Player-coach mindset, strong collaboration skills, curiosity, and interest in mentoring or managing a small engineering team.

Nice to have

• Previous people-management experience is not required but may support growth into a leadership role.
• Interest in expanding into full-stack development with React or full-cycle infrastructure work with Kubernetes and Terraform.
