Tech Lead Manager (Payroll)

Location: Remote, hybrid, or onsite within the United States; offices in New York City and San Francisco. US work authorization is required.

Salary: $240,000–$264,000 annually in San Francisco, New York City, Seattle, or Los Angeles; $228,000–$250,000 annually for remote work from other US cities. Equity is offered.

What you will do

• Scale systems supporting payroll calculations, tax payments, and filings.
• Design services that move and reconcile money across multiple parties with clear, traceable results.
• Support businesses migrating large employer populations onto hirify.global’s infrastructure.
• Use AI to automate operational workflows such as tax notice triage and employer setup.
• Partner with product and operations to define roadmaps and improve workflows.
• Lead by example through hands-on engineering and team development.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building complex software and delivering production systems end-to-end.
• 1–2 years of experience leading or managing a team.
• Willingness to remain hands-on and build alongside the team.
• Experience driving business outcomes and developing individual contributors.
• Willingness to learn the current stack: Python/Django, React, TypeScript, AWS, Terraform, Postgres, Temporal, and GitHub.
• Authorization to work in the United States is required.
