Senior Performance Engineer (PV/BESS)

Location: US, Hawaii, All Islands; up to 10–15% travel to project locations and partner offices within the U.S.

Salary: $113,000–$141,525 per year, plus an annual bonus.

What you will do

• Analyze operational performance and trends across photovoltaic and battery storage sites.
• Troubleshoot operating systems and investigate lost energy, underperformance, and grid-event impacts.
• Perform or review capacity, performance-ratio, microgrid, and islanding tests.
• Produce periodic performance reports with detailed variance analysis against forecasts and KPIs.
• Coordinate root-cause analyses and improvements with Operations and Engineering teams.
• Develop performance models and serve as a subject matter expert in microgrids, DC-coupled PV+BESS systems, and system performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical field.
• 5+ years of engineering experience focused on measuring and maintaining system performance.
• Experience with advanced analysis and database tools for metrics and dashboards.
• Ability to read and understand equipment and facility schematics.
• Strong written and verbal communication, planning, and task-management skills.
• Willingness to travel within the U.S. and commitment to safety and quality standards.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer qualifications or progress toward qualification.
• Master’s degree in Engineering.
• PV and battery energy storage system design and interconnection experience.
• Power conversion systems, relay-data, data acquisition, or SCADA experience.
• PowerBI, machine learning, advanced analytics, or Spanish language skills.
