Lead Engineer - Substation Design (Hybrid Schedule)

Location: Westwood, Massachusetts, United States; hybrid schedule with at least three days per week in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Must be available to work up to five days in the office if required and travel between MA, CT, and NH.

Annual salary: $145,670–$161,860, plus potential incentive.

What you will do

• Lead substation design, maintenance, equipment optimization, and engineering support for transmission and distribution systems.
• Supervise, coach, develop, assign, and prioritize work for at least two engineers.
• Develop and approve multi-year Life Cycle Plan activities, project designs, equipment specifications, and system upgrades.
• Support transmission-level interconnections for battery energy storage systems, solar farms, traditional generation, and distributed energy resources.
• Analyze system events and equipment condition, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Provide technical direction during normal and emergency operations, including storm duty and emergency restoration assignments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Electrical Engineering preferred.
• At least eight years of experience in the technical, operational, or engineering aspects of the electrical utility industry.
• Ability to independently develop, present, and execute projects in collaboration with other departments.
• Ability to travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire and occasionally travel by car; a valid driver’s license is required.
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• Must be available for emergency restoration assignments, including work outside normal responsibilities, hours, and location.
