Developer Experience Engineer (AI)

Location: Somerville, Massachusetts, United States; compensation range applies across all US locations.

Salary: $130,000–$180,000 per year

What you will do

• Partner with product engineering teams to identify high-impact AI opportunities across code generation, code review, testing, debugging, and internal tooling.
• Build and maintain an internal agentic AI platform, including skills, plugins, MCP servers, and integrations with source control, CI/CD, observability, and ticketing systems.
• Own architecture and standards for evaluating and deploying agents and model releases, including reliability, efficiency, evaluations, and secure tool access.
• Improve onboarding, documentation, skills catalogs, internal wikis, and discovery workflows for AI tools.
• Support engineering AI enablement through learning programs, office hours, and change management.
• Measure adoption and impact of internal AI tooling to guide future development priorities.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in developer tooling, platform engineering, or internal-facing systems.
• Hands-on experience building with AI and LLMs and shipping agentic solutions.
• Strong full-stack proficiency with TypeScript and experience with RESTful APIs, MCP, and modern integrations.
• Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, agent frameworks, RAG, and tool-use or function-calling patterns.
• Production experience with AWS, modern CI/CD practices, and AI safety and security, particularly code execution and internal-system access.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
