Senior AI Software Engineer

Location: Berlin or Düsseldorf, Germany. Hybrid hirify.global-FLEX model: 2 days in the office and 3 days working remotely each week.

What you will do

• Build agentic systems and full-stack prototypes end-to-end, taking initial versions from idea to working software within days.
• Track emerging AI models, agent patterns, and protocols such as MCP, turning promising capabilities into functional prototypes.
• Design experiments and evaluate concepts using quality, latency, cost, and user-impact metrics.
• Work with internal users, product managers, and customers to validate concepts and iterate quickly.
• Turn validated prototypes into reference implementations and write-ups for product and engineering teams, then hand them off cleanly.
• Provide concrete feedback on AI capabilities and move between initiatives as priorities change.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience building full-stack software, including products or systems started from zero.
• Production experience shipping LLM-powered systems used by real users.
• Understanding of AI agents below the framework level, including message arrays, tool calling, context management, and prompt caching; ability to build and explain an agent loop from scratch.
• Use of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar as a default working method, with measurable productivity benefits.
• Practical full-stack development skills, including taking a prototype from API to demo UI independently.
• Experience with TypeScript/Node.js and React.
• Comfort working in ambiguous, rapidly changing environments where established best practices may not exist.
• User-problem-first thinking.

• Experience with voice and real-time AI, including streaming, speech-to-text, text-to-speech, or voice-to-voice models.
• Open-source work on agent tooling, MCP servers, harnesses, or evaluations.
• Experience designing evaluations for AI systems.
• Background in conversational AI or customer-experience products.
