Principal Safety Engineer (Autonomous Driving)

Location: Hybrid in Stockholm, Sweden; London, United Kingdom; or Tallinn, Estonia, with at least 12 monthly in-office days

What you will do

• Own and maintain the system-level GSN/CAE safety case for the SAE Level 4 Automated Driving System across the full robotaxi operational lifecycle.
• Lead hazard analysis, operational design domain definition, and safety architecture across autonomous driving products.
• Define verification and validation strategies for different deployments and establish lifecycle safety metrics for active robotaxi fleets.
• Drive L4 homologation and compliance validation against EU, UN WP.29, and national autonomous driving regulations.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, fleet operations, and regulatory stakeholders to embed safety into design, development, and deployment.

Requirements

• 10–12+ years of experience in automotive, robotics, or aerospace systems engineering, including technical leadership in safety-critical L4 autonomous driving.
• Strong expertise in functional safety, ISO 26262, ISO 21448 SOTIF, and ISO/SAE 21434 automotive cybersecurity.
• Experience delivering auditable GSN or CAE safety cases and supporting L4 homologation, certification, or type approval.
• Deep understanding of autonomous driving architecture, including perception, sensor fusion, planning, and control.
• Expertise in fail-operational architectures, redundant steering and braking, power redundancy, minimum risk maneuvers, and safety conformity for ML-based perception.
• Familiarity with DOORS, Polarion, Codebeamer, or similar requirements and safety tools.
