Vehicle Test Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Coventry, United Kingdom; on site 2–3 days per week

What you will do

• Test and validate electrical and battery systems for electrified powertrain technologies.
• Develop and execute test procedures and validation activities.
• Monitor, analyse, and interpret test data to identify faults and trends.
• Conduct battery fault-finding and root-cause investigations.
• Coordinate testing with engineering and operational teams, and support test equipment integration and commissioning.
• Produce technical reports and test documentation in line with quality and safety standards.

Requirements

• Mid-level experience in electrical test engineering within automotive or electrification environments.
• Knowledge of battery systems, EV powertrains, or electrical propulsion systems.
• Experience with testing, validation, fault-finding, and technical data analysis.
• Understanding of instrumentation and test equipment, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
• Exposure to high-voltage or safety-critical systems and ability to obtain required security clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with CANalyzer, MATLAB, AVL Concerto, or JIRA.
• Familiarity with battery validation or powertrain test facilities.
• Knowledge of DFMEA, 8D, or structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Experience supporting electric drive unit or battery testing programmes.
