Autonomous Driving Forensics Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid role based in the London office. Core working hours apply, with time split between the office, workshops, and home.

What you will do

• Investigate on-road data and recurring fleet issues across robot hardware, software, and AI models.
• Perform root cause analysis, identify systemic patterns, and establish what happened during on-road incidents.
• Analyse data and communicate findings through dashboards, visualisations, and clear technical explanations.
• Collaborate with engineering, model development, operations, safety, and platform teams through issue resolution.
• Build automated workflows, investigation playbooks, simulation tools, and offline testing processes.
• Support systems engineering, release testing, new vehicle platforms, and emerging autonomous driving programmes.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience working with complex systems in robotics, autonomous vehicles, or comparable engineered systems.
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and systems-thinking skills across hardware, software, and models.
• Experience designing real-world experiments to test hypotheses and writing Python for data analysis and varied analytical use cases.
• Ability to communicate complex technical issues to technical and non-technical stakeholders and influence decisions through findings.
• Safety-conscious approach, including recognising safety implications and escalating concerns.
• Ability to work from the London office under a hybrid working policy.

• Practical experience applying and evaluating machine learning models.
• Experience with safety-critical systems or the automotive, robotics, or AI industries.
• Experience promoting statistical rigour and experimental best practices.
