Powertrain Test Engineer (Automotive)

What you will do

• Analyse and interpret technical and regulatory requirements for powertrain systems.
• Review physical test data for certification and powertrain development activities.
• Support powertrain testing programmes and alignment with compliance standards.
• Investigate technical issues and drive structured problem definition and resolution.
• Engage with stakeholders to support compliant and high-performing powertrain systems.

Requirements

• 3–6 years of experience in powertrain testing, development, compliance, or a related test engineering environment.
• Engineering and/or product legislation experience, including technical requirements analysis and physical test data interpretation.
• Knowledge of powertrain products, test facilities, procedures, engineering standards, and certification processes.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
• Strong organisational, analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to obtain the required security clearance and complete Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks.

Nice to have

• Experience analysing emissions-related regulatory requirements.
• Understanding of powertrain homologation and compliance processes.
• Experience with Python, MATLAB, or Concerto for data analysis.
• Knowledge of FMEA, Six Sigma, or structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence and drive change.
