Software Defined Vehicle Senior Hardware in the Loop (HIL) Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid role based in Milford, Michigan; on-site presence in Milford, MI is required at least three times per week. The role may be eligible for relocation benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the HIL Agile Release Train scrum team and provide technical leadership for HIL, SIL, and virtual HIL test environments.
• Create, integrate, maintain, and improve plant, sensor, actuator, serial communication, and controller simulation models.
• Evaluate, parameterize, tune, and correlate test environments using system requirements, calibrations, and experimental data.
• Own lab operations, bench utilization, issue triage, customer support, and resolution of complex test environment and bench issues.
• Plan and coordinate model, hardware, and test environment rollouts, lab expansion, standard architectures, and simulation technology adoption.
• Mentor engineers, lead small groups, and communicate technical capabilities and roadmaps to engineering teams, technical leaders, and management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering; Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Software, or Computer Engineering is preferred.
• At least 5 years of relevant engineering experience, including 3 years focused on simulation and testing of electronic control modules.
• Experience with MATLAB and Simulink for plant model development and integration, plus real-time simulation tools.
• At least 3 years of experience with dSPACE equipment, including at least 1 year with the Scalexio platform.
• Knowledge of automotive communication technologies including CAN, LIN, Ethernet, and SPI, plus Python and C/C++ programming.
• Experience with Git, Bitbucket, SAFe, Jira or IBM RTC, Jenkins, and leading complex projects with significant ambiguity.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in engineering or 10+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience with dSPACE Scalexio, GT Suite, CarSim, Amesim, ETAS INCA, Lauterbach, CANalyzer, or Vehicle Spy.
• Experience developing real-time control algorithms, embedded controls software, automated build processes, or software integration verification and validation.
• Experience with high-performance co-simulation, advanced technology development, controls, software, calibration, or production vehicle programs.
