Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Team Lead (Automotive)

What you will do

• Lead the HIL program across Hardware and Software, owning its strategy, architecture, roadmap, and execution.
• Define and deliver tiered HIL benches from component-level ECU testing to full-system vehicle integration across multiple platforms and OEM programs.
• Verify electrical, timing, and fault-handling requirements, including power loss, autonomy disconnect, and redundant power failover scenarios.
• Validate real-time constraints using hardware timestamping, oscilloscopes, and high-speed data acquisition.
• Integrate HIL testing with CI and firmware/software release processes, including automated smoke testing and modality tracking.
• Plan bench capacity, hardware resources, and headcount while hiring and developing the HIL team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience.
• 7+ years of experience in HIL, embedded systems testing, or V&V for safety-critical systems, including experience building HIL programs or labs.
• Hands-on experience architecting custom HIL platforms and using off-the-shelf systems.
• Deep knowledge of automotive interfaces and debugging, including CAN and automotive Ethernet.
• Proficiency in Python and test automation frameworks, with experience integrating hardware tests into CI pipelines.
• Technical leadership experience across hardware and software organizations, plus strong technical writing skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with ISO 26262, real-time safety-critical systems, heterogeneous compute platforms, fault-injection hardware, load boxes, or breakout and harness design.
• Experience in autonomous vehicles, trucking, or complex vehicle programs spanning multiple platforms.
