Design Engineer (Electrical)

Location: On-site in Memphis, Tennessee, United States; this is not a remote or hybrid role. Travel up to 25% may be required.

What you will do

• Produce and maintain electrical design documentation, including single-line diagrams, panel schedules, cable schedules, conduit layouts, grounding plans, and equipment elevations.
• Perform load, voltage-drop, cable ampacity, derating, conduit-fill, and pull-tension calculations, including for long underground runs.
• Size medium- and low-voltage transformers, switchgear, busway, and feeders, including required equipment ratings.
• Write equipment specifications and technical bid evaluations for electrical distribution equipment and power distribution units.
• Provide inputs for protection and power-system studies, resolve field RFIs, and issue design changes during construction.
• Maintain design and asset documentation while ensuring compliance with NFPA, NESC, and IEEE standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or another engineering discipline.
• At least 3 years of electrical design experience in data center, industrial, or utility facilities.
• Experience producing issued-for-construction drawing sets using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or Revit.
• Knowledge of NEC Articles 110, 215, 240, 250, 310, and 450, with medium-voltage cable system design experience.
• Willingness to work on-site in Memphis, perform hands-on work in varied and hazardous environments, work extended hours and weekends, and provide 24/7 emergency on-call support.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted and hold a valid driver's license.

Nice to have

• Experience with ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, Matlab, PSCAD, or similar power systems analysis tools.
• Revit or BIM coordination experience.
• Engineer in Training certification or progress toward a Professional Engineer license.
• Experience with repeated, multi-phase builds and demonstrated creative problem-solving skills.
