TL;DR
Power System Engineer (Transmission & Distribution) (High-Voltage AI Campus Infrastructure): Designing, analyzing, and maintaining high-capacity electrical infrastructure for AI training campuses with an accent on transmission and distribution systems, grid-forming inverter interactions, and mission-critical power reliability. Focus on developing a single power-system model for load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, transient stability, EMT, islanding, and black-start studies.

Location: On-site in Memphis, Tennessee; not a remote or hybrid role. Travel up to 25% to other sites, factories, vendors, and OEMs.

Company

AI organization developing systems designed to understand the universe and support humanity's pursuit of knowledge.

What you will do

  • Design, build, operate, and maintain electrical infrastructure for AI training campuses.
  • Own the Memphis campus power-system model, including load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc-flash, motor-starting, harmonics, transient-stability, and EMT studies.
  • Create and maintain sitewide power budgets, monitoring, and metering for mission-critical assets.
  • Develop one-line and three-line analyses, relay-setting studies, as-built model updates, interconnection studies, and battery-storage sizing.
  • Standardize study cases for hall additions, storage dispatch, islanding, and black-start operations.
  • Support construction, energization, operations, emergency response, and compliance with NFPA 70, 70B, 70E, NESC, and IEEE standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or another engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in power-system design, analysis, and studies, focused on high-power, high-voltage systems.
  • Experience with power-system analysis tools such as ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, PowerWorld, MATLAB, PSCAD, PSS/E, ASPEN, or Simulink.
  • Experience performing load-flow, short-circuit, arc-flash, coordination, and transient-stability studies.
  • Familiarity with industrial power systems up to 345 kV, including switchgear, transformers, BESS, VFDs, motors, UPS and emergency backups, generation, relaying, metering, protective devices, and networking.
  • Must be willing to work on-site in Memphis, work extended hours and weekends when needed, provide 24/7 emergency on-call support, work in hazardous environments with PPE, and perform hands-on work in varied conditions and at heights.

Nice to have

  • Professional Engineering license or active intention to pursue a PE license.
  • Experience with CAD software such as Revit, AutoCAD, or NX.
  • Strong initiative, creative problem-solving, and analytical engineering fundamentals.
  • Valid driver's license.

Culture & Benefits

  • Small, highly motivated team focused on engineering excellence.
  • Flat organizational structure with hands-on contribution expected from all employees.
  • Direct work on high-capacity infrastructure driven by AI compute demand.
  • Opportunity to support construction, commissioning, operations, factory testing, and multiple sites.
