What you will do

  • Administer the Radiation Safety Program under the direction of the Radiation Safety Officer.
  • Ensure radiation activities comply with regulations, licenses, and company policies.
  • Prepare Radiation Work Permits, licensing amendments, permitting applications, audits, reports, and program reviews.
  • Lead or support responses to abnormal events, accident investigations, radiological work reviews, and ALARA controls.
  • Perform contamination and exposure-rate surveys, laboratory inspections, airborne monitoring, decontamination, and Class 7 radioactive material shipment reviews.
  • Supervise and provide operational, training, instrumentation, and compliance support to Health Physicists, technicians, and radiation workers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiation Protection, Radiological or Health Science, or a related technical discipline with 5 years of experience; alternatively, a master’s or PhD with 2 years of experience, CHP or NRC-recognized specialty-board certification, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience interpreting regulations, licensing requirements, supervising or coaching teams, and overseeing radiological work in radiation and contamination areas.
  • Experience with swipe counters, ion chambers, GM meters, gamma counters, and gamma spectroscopy systems.
  • Experience performing radiation contamination and exposure-rate surveys and applying health physics principles.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks with and without respiratory protection, wear PPE including a respirator, lift up to 50 pounds, and climb ladders up to 50 feet.
  • Applicants must provide information relevant to U.S. Government export-control review; foreign nationals may require export authorization.

Nice to have

  • CHP certification or other NRC-recognized specialty-board certification.
