Location: Orangeville, Utah, with a temporary onboarding period in Los Angeles before deployment to the Utah pilot site. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident. Relocation to Los Angeles temporarily and then to Utah is required.

What you will do
- Develop and maintain the technical basis for the Radiation Protection Program, including dosimetry, instrumentation, and airborne radioactivity monitoring.
- Lead ALARA reviews, shielding calculations, and dose assessments for high-hazard work.
- Write technical procedures that translate 10 CFR 835 requirements into field-ready operating steps.
- Oversee the selection, calibration, and maintenance of radiological instrumentation.
- Develop and deliver radiation safety training for general employees and radiological workers.
- Manage regulatory reporting and recordkeeping for DOE and state compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, engineering, or a related physical science; equivalent progressive experience or current CHP certification may also qualify.
- 3–5 years of professional experience in operational health physics.
- Experience in at least two areas: technical writing, dose assessment, ALARA planning, instrumentation, or training.
- Expert knowledge of 10 CFR 835 or 10 CFR 20 and strong technical writing skills.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
- Ability to relocate temporarily to Los Angeles for training and then to Utah for ongoing operations.
Nice to have
- Experience at a DOE or NRC-licensed reactor facility or in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
- Knowledge of DOE-STD-1098 and 49 CFR transport regulations.
