Location: On-site in Idaho Falls, Idaho, United States. Remote work with frequent travel to site may be considered. Remote employees must travel to headquarters in Santa Clara, California twice per quarter, and onboarding requires two weeks in person at headquarters. Applicants must meet the definition of a U.S. person under applicable export control laws.
Salary: $120,000–$170,000 per year

What you will do
- Own the Radiation Protection Program for the Idaho Radioisotopes Laboratory and serve as its designated Radiation Safety Officer.
- Establish and enforce radiation protection standards, radiological controls, procedures, and operational requirements.
- Oversee radioactive material handling, isotope production, contamination controls, radioactive waste management, and radiological work planning.
- Perform and review shielding analyses, dose assessments, ALARA planning, contamination control strategies, and radiological work reviews.
- Lead radiation protection personnel and collaborate with operations, engineering, maintenance, laboratory, and leadership teams.
- Interface with NRC and other regulators during inspections, audits, licensing activities, investigations, and corrective actions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Radiochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
- At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in health physics, radiation safety, or radiological operations in regulated environments.
- Experience implementing and managing radiation protection programs and leading or supervising technical staff.
- Strong knowledge of NRC regulations, radiation protection principles, ALARA practices, contamination controls, and radiological work planning.
- Strong communication, technical writing, organizational, problem-solving, and operational decision-making skills.
- U.S. person eligibility is required for work involving information subject to U.S. export control laws.
Nice to have
- Certified Health Physicist certification.
- Experience with radioisotope production facilities, hot cells, gloveboxes, or nuclear laboratories.
- Experience with startup, commissioning, operational readiness, NRC inspections, radioactive material transportation, or radioactive waste management.
