TL;DR
Power Electronics Integration Engineer (Robotics): Developing and validating PCB-based power distribution and power electronics hardware for autonomous mobile robot platforms with an accent on battery interfaces, power conversion, motor-drive stages, and charging systems. Focus on power-budget analysis, component derating, thermal and electrical troubleshooting, and integrating reliable hardware into AMR platforms.

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; hybrid attendance required at least 3 times per week. Travel required up to 25%. The role is not eligible for relocation benefits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least two years of experience in power electronics or PCB-based electrical hardware design.
  • Working knowledge of power-conversion topologies and PCB design best practices.
  • Familiarity with ECAD tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship; candidates must not require sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Power hardware design experience in robotics, industrial automation, autonomous systems, or battery-powered products.
  • Experience with high-current, high-power, or battery-powered systems.
  • Familiarity with UL, CE, ISO 13849, or other functional-safety and regulatory standards.
  • Experience with SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar simulation tools.

What you will do

  • Design, integrate, and validate power distribution and power electronics hardware, including AC-DC and DC-DC conversion and battery interfaces.
  • Develop PCB-based hardware from schematic capture through layout collaboration, fabrication, bring-up, and validation.
  • Perform power-budget and load analyses and support component derating strategies.
  • Troubleshoot power-delivery, thermal-management, electrical-robustness, and system-integration issues.
  • Integrate power hardware into autonomous mobile robot platforms with wiring and program engineering teams.
  • Maintain technical documentation for power architectures, PCB designs, test plans, and validation results.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time employment with total rewards and benefits designed to support well-being at work and at home.
  • Inclusive workplace focused on belonging and equal employment opportunities.
