Payroll Clerk

Location: El Segundo, California, United States; onsite

Hourly rate: $37–$44 per hour

What you will do

• Support biweekly and semi-monthly payroll runs across multiple U.S. states and entities using Rippling.
• Onboard new hires into the payroll system and manually process edge cases and new-market entries.
• Review timecards, follow up on non-compliance, and escalate recurring issues with documentation.
• Reconcile payroll data across Rippling, Greenhouse, and NetSuite for accurate GL postings and reporting.
• Administer benefits and deductions, including FSA/HSA elections and termination-related final pay.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries and maintain audit-ready documentation.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of payroll processing experience; multi-state experience is advantageous.
• Familiarity with payroll and HRIS platforms; Rippling experience is strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of wage and hour law, tax withholding, and deduction priority ordering.
• Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and basic data cleanup.
• High attention to detail, discretion with confidential data, and clear written communication.
• Ability to work independently and proactively flag issues.

Nice to have

• Exposure to international or EOR payroll.
• Experience with NetSuite and Rippling.
• Interest in data analysis or BI tools such as Power BI and SQL.
