West Coast - Payroll Specialist

Location: Remote in the United States, aligned with Pacific Standard Time; no travel required

Salary: $70,000–$90,000 per year

What you will do

• Process complex, high-volume bi-weekly payrolls, off-cycle payrolls, bonuses, manual checks, and tax adjustments.
• Audit HRIS payroll records, manage employee changes, verify timesheets, and maintain payroll data integrity.
• Handle garnishments, final wage payments, state agency inquiries, mandated reports, and multi-state tax setup.
• Reconcile payroll taxes, 401(k) contributions, loans, employer matches, quarterly remittances, and year-end W-2 forms.
• Prepare payroll reports, journal entries, PTO liability reports, accruals, and import files using Excel and Deltek VantagePoint.
• Support business units, HR Operations, acquisitions, financial audits, 401(k) audits, and workers’ compensation audits.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience with UKG Pro required.
• At least 5 years of experience processing multi-state payroll required.
• Current knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, multi-state taxation, local taxes, and reciprocal agreements.
• Proficiency with UKG Pro and Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, including Excel formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUPs.
• Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, adaptability, initiative, and ability to meet deadlines in a demanding environment.
