Payroll Manager

Location: Bellevue, WA. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available. Employees local to Bellevue or New York offices work hybrid, 1–3 days per week in the office. Employees in non-office-based roles located farther from company offices may work fully remotely.

Salary: $104,000–$130,000 annually, plus equity and applicable bonuses or overtime.

What you will do

• Own full-cycle domestic payroll processing using ADP, ensuring accurate employee compensation.
• Lead payroll tax compliance, multi-state registrations, tax notice resolution, and labor-law monitoring.
• Design and implement scalable payroll procedures that reduce manual work through automated and touchless processing.
• Identify and deploy AI-driven tools for data validation, employee inquiries, and policy analysis.
• Act as the primary business owner for ADP and integrated HRIS tools, including audits and configuration updates.
• Partner with HR, Legal, and General Ledger teams on payroll accounting, audits, and regulatory reporting.

Requirements

• 7+ years of payroll administration experience, including extensive hands-on ADP expertise; ADP Workforce Now experience is preferred.
• Experience leading or managing a payroll function and building payroll processes in a fast-paced, high-growth technology environment.
• Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and complex compliance resolution.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-advisory skills.
• Interest in applying AI and automation to payroll operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Certified Payroll Professional designation.
• Experience in SaaS or high-growth technology companies.
• NetSuite ERP integration experience.
• Public company or IPO-readiness experience.
