Billing Support Specialist (Healthcare)

Location: Remote within the United States; currently not hiring in Hawaii

Salary: $51,000–$57,000 annual base salary; equity offered, with no bonus.

What you will do

• Manage assigned payers within the Revenue Cycle Management team.
• Investigate claim denials, navigate changing payer requirements, and prioritize accurate claim resolution.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to analyze operational and denial trends.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, claim outcomes, and revenue cycle efficiency.
• Guide offshore team members on payer-specific workflows, claim resolution strategies, and operational processes.
• Support onboarding, answer workflow questions, and share best practices within the pod.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in healthcare billing, insurance, patient relations, or medical claims.
• Comprehensive understanding of insurance policies, claim processing, appeals, and recoupment procedures.
• Knowledge of denial language and carrier CARC codes.
• Expert understanding of the claim lifecycle.
• Critical-thinking skills for evaluating complex cases and making informed decisions.
• Basic to intermediate Excel skills, including formatting, formulas, charts, and pivot tables.

Nice to have

• Mental health or behavioral health billing and collections experience.
• Experience with electronic health record systems and billing software such as AdvancedMD.
• Experience partnering with or leading offshore teams.
• Strong multitasking, prioritization, organizational, and documentation skills.
