What you will do

  • Post insurance claim payments, adjustments, and denials into billing or practice management systems.
  • Review EOBs, ERAs, payer correspondence, and contractual adjustments to identify underpayments, overpayments, and missing payments.
  • Process payment batches and reconcile posted payments with bank deposits and statements.
  • Investigate discrepancies, maintain deposit and remittance logs, and escalate unresolved variances.
  • Track denial and payer trends, communicate with billing teams or payers, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly payment, reconciliation, payer performance, denial, and accounts receivable reports, including month-end analysis.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in medical billing, payment posting, or healthcare revenue cycle operations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or business/healthcare coursework is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ERAs, EOBs, CPT/ICD-10 codes, and insurance payer processes.
  • Experience with billing systems such as Epic, Athena, NextGen, eClinicalWorks, or Kareo.
  • Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA, payer guidelines, and internal financial protocols.
