Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: Canada (Remote). An in-office workspace is available in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Salary: CAD 144,000–181,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead frontend and backend excellence across account management and identity services, maintaining reliability for customers and engineers.
• Architect backend systems using modern design patterns and technologies.
• Partner with Product, Security, UX, and Design to define a customer-centered technical roadmap.
• Apply security principles across identity, authorization, and developer-focused services.
• Use data and retrospectives to improve team productivity, well-being, technical quality, and roadmap delivery.
• Hire, coach, mentor, and develop engineers while delegating leadership responsibilities and fostering ownership and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software development experience, including a strong individual-contributor foundation.
• 3+ years of direct people management, team leadership, mentoring, or people-focused technical leadership.
• Experience launching and operating full-stack, production-scale projects with stringent SLOs.
• Deep knowledge of identity and access management or developer-focused security products.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or a similar language, with the ability to review code and technical designs.
• Familiarity with cloud-native infrastructure, serverless applications, and Terraform, plus experience using AI coding assistants.

Nice to have

• Authorization at scale using ReBAC, ABAC, or Zanzibar-style systems such as Auth0 FGA, OpenFGA, or SpiceDB.
• Multi-tenant account modeling, GraphQL APIs, federation, or gateway architectures.
• Search and indexing services, event-driven data pipelines, notification systems, or developer-facing CLIs and public APIs.
• Legacy-system decommissioning, incremental migrations, vendor evaluation, or build-versus-buy analysis.
