Composites Manufacturing Engineer III (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of tooling, fixtures, and production equipment for aerospace composite components.
• Develop, optimize, and scale manufacturing processes for development and full-rate production programs.
• Own hardware development and production processes, including part expertise, work instructions, and fabrication guidance.
• Support production-floor teams, resolve nonconformances through root-cause analysis and corrective actions, and maintain quality controls.
• Manage manufacturing programs against quality, cost, and schedule requirements while identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams and mentor less experienced engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering field.
• 10 years of experience in carbon-fiber composite aerospace manufacturing.
• Proficiency with CAD software for tooling and fixturing design.
• Strong technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to become an expert in complex hardware.
• Experience driving process improvements and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Automated Fiber Placement experience.
• Quick-turn custom composite tooling design and fabrication experience.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing Black Belt certification.
