Manufacture Engineering Technician (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite in or near Denver, Colorado; must be a US citizen or permanent resident

Urban Sky is a venture-backed aerospace startup that designs, builds, operates, and sells stratospheric balloon systems for wildfire monitoring, urban mapping, and government applications.

What you will do

• Develop and implement manufacturing processes and procedures for stratospheric balloons, avionics, and payloads.
• Construct and validate machinery, equipment, and production tooling.
• Test and inspect equipment and products to verify quality standards.
• Collaborate with automation, process, quality, and production teams to troubleshoot issues and recommend solutions.
• Maintain production-performance and equipment-maintenance records.
• Train production staff, support safety compliance, and participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing programs.

Requirements

• Fabrication experience with general assembly and at least one trade, such as machining, welding, or shop power-tool use.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment, including machinery setup and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and quality assurance.
• Proficiency with CAD, MRP systems, Microsoft Office, and other computer software.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work around noise, dust, and machinery, and stand for up to 12 hours as needed.

Nice to have

• Associate degree in a technical field or an engineering degree.
• Startup experience or experience manufacturing soft goods.
• Familiarity with Six Sigma techniques and tools.
• Broad hands-on skills across multiple trades.
