Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: U.S. Remote; candidates must reside in the U.S. and be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Base salary: $220,000–$275,000 per year, based on experience and level.

What you will do

• Manage and mentor up to five engineers, supporting career growth, technical development, and day-to-day execution.
• Own team goals and roadmap delivery, identifying and removing blockers.
• Review Architecture Decision Documents, conduct pre-launch risk assessments, and align systems with company goals.
• Lead technical discovery, feasibility analysis, and capacity estimation for future projects.
• Stay involved in the code through pull request reviews, design discussions, incident retrospectives, pairing, and targeted technical contributions.
• Improve engineering practices through agile methods, TDD, software design principles, and cross-functional communication.

Requirements

• Professional programming experience with open source languages.
• At least 5 years of experience delivering software in production environments.
• At least 2 years of management experience.
• Must reside in the U.S.
• Must already be legally authorized to work in the United States; employer visa sponsorship is not available.
• Ability to contribute approximately 10–20% of working time to technical work while managing and coaching engineers.

Nice to have

• Ruby on Rails, React, or TypeScript experience.
• Experience evaluating and testing LLM-powered workflows, including LangSmith or similar observability and evaluation tools.
• Familiarity with prompt engineering, prompt lifecycle management, LangGraph, AutoGen, or other agent orchestration frameworks.
• Experience with AI-powered coding tools such as Cursor.
• Cross-functional experience with UX/UI design, product management, or business process improvement.
