Manager, Software Engineering (AI)

Location: Illinois, United States; hybrid

Salary: $155,000–$233,000 annual base salary, plus annual performance bonus and long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Lead and mentor software engineers and architects across multiple product areas.
• Drive development of existing applications and new platforms with a strong AI focus.
• Set technical direction and contribute to software design, development, and integration.
• Allocate and validate engineering resources according to Scrum team needs and business priorities.
• Conduct 1:1 meetings, performance reviews, and career development conversations.
• Advise the business on technology, promote knowledge sharing, and support process improvements and special projects.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience, including 2 or more years in leadership or management.
• Experience hiring, leading, and developing high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience integrating AI tools such as Copilot, Claude, or Cursor into development workflows.
• Experience with SaaS or enterprise software development.
• Familiarity with data modeling, ingestion, and transformation.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, with strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with government-facing applications and FedRAMP compliance.
• Background in legal technology or eDiscovery.
• Strategic thinking and planning experience.
• Experience building applications with intuitive user experiences.
