Cybersecurity Embedded Software Engineer (C/C++/Linux)

Location: Hybrid role requiring work from the Carlsbad, California or Germantown, Maryland office three days per week. US citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a United States Secret Clearance are required.

Salary: $140,500–$221,500 annually. For specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $174,000–$261,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, document, troubleshoot, and maintain security-focused embedded software.
• Develop automated access controls and configure security policies for systems and devices.
• Integrate static and dynamic security analysis tools into CI/CD pipelines.
• Automate Linux security configuration and validation, including scan-result triage and compliance evaluation.
• Create tools for managing secrets, cryptographic keys, and digital certificates.
• Research security mechanisms and collaborate with software, product, test, automation, and security teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong C and C++ development and debugging skills on Linux.
• Experience with encryption, authentication software, and OpenSSL cryptographic libraries.
• Working knowledge of Linux security controls and proficiency with Bash and Python or Lua scripting.
• Experience with Agile and Perforce- or Git-based development environments; ability to work autonomously and mentor junior engineers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Linux internals, device drivers, kernel cryptography, ARM/Power/x86 architectures, and modern C++ standards.
• REST APIs, JSON, embedded HTTP/HTTPS servers, and network security protocols.
• ARM TrustZone, TPM, TLS, IPsec, containers, confidential computing, and secure firmware updates.
• Threat modeling, structured vulnerability analysis, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
