Application Specialist - APC (Advanced Process Control)

Location: Warrington, United Kingdom; hybrid field work with on-site customer support and remote expert services. Frequent travel of approximately 50% is required, including shutdowns and extended working hours when needed.

What you will do

• Deliver on-site and remote expert services for advanced process control, process optimization, troubleshooting, audits, studies, startup, commissioning, and shutdown activities.
• Support process stabilization, tuning, diagnostics, and operational performance improvement using automation systems, analysers, and process expertise.
• Analyze process variability, control performance, valve behavior, instrumentation signals, and operating practices to identify root causes.
• Recommend improvements to control strategies, automation settings, process tuning, and operational practices.
• Support customers during startups, commissioning, shutdowns, process upsets, and performance follow-up as a technical authority.
• Prepare service reports, identify service and upgrade opportunities, contribute to quotations and planning, and train customer personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Control Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
• Strong experience in automation, process operations or process support, particularly in waste-to-energy environments.
• Strong experience with controls, automation, process tuning, and DCS-supported troubleshooting.
• Experience with startup, commissioning, shutdown execution, or process performance support.
• Ability to translate technical findings into practical customer recommendations and work independently in high-pressure site conditions.
• Willingness to travel frequently, support customers on site, and work during shutdowns or extended hours when required.

Nice to have

• Experience with hirify.global or equivalent distributed control systems, analysers, APC, or related optimization tools.
• Experience with remote support, performance follow-up, technical-commercial activities, quotations, or service agreements.
• Experience supervising contractors or coordinating site teams.
