Director, Sustainability Strategy & Compliance

Location: United States-based company with flexible and remote work options; domestic and international travel of up to 25% may be required.

Salary: $225,000–$230,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead the global sustainability strategy, roadmap, goals, metrics, and performance tracking.
• Develop compliance roadmaps and governance frameworks for climate, packaging, product stewardship, and sustainability reporting regulations.
• Manage greenhouse gas inventories, carbon accounting, emissions data quality, and Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 programs.
• Oversee annual sustainability reporting, ESG disclosures, external assurance activities, and reporting controls.
• Lead customer, investor, and stakeholder sustainability requests and support product footprint assessments, lifecycle assessments, and sustainable product development.
• Manage sustainability governance, executive communications, cross-functional collaboration, and data assurance readiness.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, business administration, engineering, public policy, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in sustainability, ESG, environmental compliance, climate strategy, or related disciplines.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing programs and influencing cross-functional teams in a global organization.
• Experience leading sustainability reporting, carbon accounting, regulatory compliance, ESG programs, sustainability software platforms, and large-scale data programs.
• Knowledge of GRI, SASB, TCFD, CDP, greenhouse gas accounting, and Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions reporting.
• Strong executive communication, analytical, project management, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in manufacturing, industrial, electronics, or technology industries.
• Knowledge of product sustainability, lifecycle assessment, circular economy principles, and sustainable product development.
• Experience with sustainability assurance or audit processes and regulations in North America, Europe, and Asia.
• Professional certifications in sustainability, environmental management, climate, or ESG.
