Senior Hardware Technical Lead (Defence Electronics)

What you will do

• Act as the technical authority for hardware development of secure digital design solutions.
• Define and improve hardware development processes, CAD tools, simulation toolsets, and quality governance.
• Provide architectural guidance on electronic and mechanical integration, thermal management, PCB design, and FPGA collaboration.
• Lead schematic capture, high-speed digital board design, PCB layout oversight, and hardware design verification testing.
• Own the hardware New Product Introduction lifecycle and support manufacturing, testing, and component-obsolescence resolution.
• Mentor hardware engineers, identify skills gaps, and foster collaboration across FPGA, mechanical, and board-design disciplines.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in hardware engineering and electronic design.
• Degree in Electronic Engineering or a similar discipline.
• Experience defining processes and toolsets across PCB, FPGA, and mechanical engineering disciplines.
• Ability to implement engineering governance, design reviews, quality standards, and performance metrics.
• Must be a UK sole national and have, or be capable of obtaining, UK security clearance.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with FPGA workflows, programmable logic integration, and high-speed interfaces.
• Knowledge of Design for Test and Design for Manufacture methodologies.
• Experience delivering electronic products for defence, high-assurance, or aerospace applications.
• Experience coaching engineers and improving output quality without heavy administrative management.
