Senior Staff Electrical Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Full-time, on-site position in El Segundo, California, United States

Salary: $211,000–$264,000 annual base compensation, excluding bonuses, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, design, and technical execution of high-speed digital circuit cards and subsystems.
• Lead complex PCBAs incorporating FPGAs, processors, memory devices, data converters, clocks, and high-speed serial interfaces.
• Define PCB layout strategies covering controlled impedance, length matching, return paths, grounding, shielding, decoupling, and power distribution.
• Develop design practices for board stack-ups, layout constraints, signal integrity, power integrity, bring-up, and verification.
• Resolve cross-disciplinary issues involving FPGA and software interfaces, RF coexistence, EMI/EMC, thermal behavior, power distribution, and mechanical packaging.
• Guide integration, verification, qualification, production transition, failure analysis, field support, customer and supplier interfaces, and engineering mentorship.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 12+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Technical leadership experience with complex high-speed digital hardware designs.
• Strong knowledge of digital design fundamentals, timing, clocking, controlled impedance, signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, decoupling, and return-path management.
• Extensive digital board design experience with FPGAs, processors, memory devices, high-speed data converters, and board-level communication interfaces.
• Hands-on experience with board bring-up, system integration, troubleshooting, verification, qualification, production transition, and failure analysis.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
• Avionics experience and experience with Altium Designer.
• Experience with HyperLynx, Sigrity, ADS, Ansys SIwave, or equivalent signal integrity and power integrity tools.
• Experience with DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, JESD204, SERDES, LVDS, or similar high-speed interfaces.
• Familiarity with EMI/EMC mitigation, aerospace standards, design for manufacturability, and prototype-to-production transitions.
