Technical Staff Engineer-Design (Digital Logic)

Location: Full-time onsite work from office in Colorado Springs, Colorado, or Hauppauge, New York, USA. Travel: 0–25%.

Annual base salary: $91,000–$232,000 USD, depending on location, skills, and experience. Total compensation also includes restricted stock units and quarterly bonus payments.

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of integrated circuits containing embedded microcontrollers, cryptographic algorithms, supporting hardware, firmware, or software.
• Provide technical direction across multiple teams and projects, defining requirements and project scope with product managers, architects, and stakeholders.
• Support architecture, design integration, clock-domain crossing, synthesis, DFT, timing closure, power, and logical issue resolution.
• Review code, design documentation, and technical specifications while developing engineering standards, processes, and tools.
• Identify technical risks and bottlenecks, communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, and stay current with industry practices.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers and perform additional responsibilities as directed by the manager.

Requirements

• 12+ years of relevant experience.
• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• Strong ASIC design background, including several of: architecture and micro-architecture development; synthesis and static timing analysis closure; DFT power-aware compression flow and stuck-at, transition, and bridging vector generation; physical design floorplanning; IO pad ring design; analog IP integration; and cryptographic and security design concepts and countermeasures.
• Ability to understand industry-standard specifications including eSPI, QSPI, I3C, cryptographic security functions, RISC MPU/NPU, and AXI, and steer system- and device-level architecture and design decisions toward compliance.
• Ability to support design integration activities such as clock-domain crossing, synthesis, and DFT while resolving timing, power, and logical issues.

Nice to have

• Coding, scripting, and automation skills with C, Verilog/VHDL, Unix/Linux shell programming, Perl/Python/Ruby, Makefiles, and revision management.
• Experience with CAD tools for synthesis, static timing analysis, formal verification, automatic test pattern generation, digital and analog simulation, RTL static code analysis, and mask layout.
• Laboratory skills and hands-on experience with test equipment.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and modern development practices.
