TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer (Avionics / Electromechanical / Harnessing) (Spacecraft Manufacturing): Scaling spacecraft electromechanical assembly processes, including wire harness fabrication, connector installation, cable routing, and payload integration with an accent on production documentation, contamination control, and acceptance testing. Focus on translating customer and interface requirements into executable processes, solving non-conformances through root cause analysis and corrective actions, and coordinating payload readiness with vehicle integration.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States

Salary: $119,543–$152,749 per year for Engineer II, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

Company

hirify.global develops in-space manufacturing infrastructure, including pharmaceutical processing payloads, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.

What you will do

  • Own manufacturing and assembly processes for payload systems, experiment modules, pharmaceutical processing hardware, and customer-furnished equipment.
  • Create and maintain work instructions, assembly travelers, process specifications, acceptance test procedures, and traceable build records.
  • Translate customer requirements and interface control document constraints into executable production processes.
  • Collaborate with design engineers on design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly feedback covering accessibility, connectors, thermal interfaces, and testability.
  • Execute acceptance testing, functional verification, inspections, contamination control, and cleanliness procedures for sensitive payload hardware.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conformances and coordinate payload integration milestones with vehicle integration teams.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience with electromechanical assemblies in electronics, aerospace, defense, or another high-reliability industry.
  • Experience with wire harness fabrication, IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards, and connector assembly, including D-sub, circular MIL-spec, or coaxial connectors.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and connector pinouts and apply first-principles root cause analysis.
  • Ability to collaborate directly with production-floor technicians and regularly lift 25 lbs., bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person under applicable export-control requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience with spacecraft or launch-vehicle electromechanical integration in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of ESD control, grounding and bonding, flight-hardware cleanliness, cable routing, and thermal, vibration, and EMI constraints.
  • Experience with automated wire-processing equipment, harness-board tooling, production-rate transitions, or electromechanical MRB dispositions.
  • Experience with PDM/PLM systems such as Windchill, Teamcenter, or Arena for electrical BOM configuration control.
  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering with specialization in embedded systems, microelectronics, RF, or control systems.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time employment with flexible PTO, 12 paid holidays, and 12 weeks of parental leave.
  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents, with FSA and employer-matched HSA options.
  • 401(k) plan with a 6% immediately vested employer match and equity incentives.
  • Relocation support for new hires when needed.
  • Daily catered lunch, twice-weekly dinner, wellness reimbursement, company events, and complimentary EV charging.
