TL;DR
Staff Harness Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and validating system-level electrical harnesses for high-reliability, space-ready electronics from concept through flight readiness with an accent on power distribution, high-speed communications, RF cabling, and supplier integration. Focus on defining verification strategies, resolving harness non-conformances, managing lifecycle risks, and meeting NASA and IPC/WHMA harnessing standards.

Location: Onsite at the Louisville, Colorado office; travel up to 10% domestically or internationally.

Salary: $126,887–$166,127 approximate annual base salary.

What you will do

  • Design system-level harnesses for power distribution and high-speed communications.
  • Own the harness design lifecycle from early concept through flight readiness and establish design best practices.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, RF, electrical, systems, software, FPGA/SoC, and operations teams on hardware integration.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact for wire, cable, connector, and harness suppliers.
  • Resolve supplier non-conformances and provide input to schedules, hardware requirements, and process improvements.
  • Define test plans and verification strategies for flight-ready hardware.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent combined education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex harnesses across the full product lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of PCBAs, RF cabling, electrical components, cable assembly design, EMC, and EMI testing.
  • Strong knowledge of harnessing standards, including NASA-STD-8739.4 and IPC/WHMA-A-620.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or another CAD application, Zuken or another harness design application, and engineering product lifecycle management tools.
  • Must meet U.S. export-control requirements: be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, qualifying refugee or asylee, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations.
