TL;DR
Wire Harness Design Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and releasing electrical interconnects and wire harnesses for aerospace actuation and power electronics systems with an accent on end-to-end harness design, qualification, and production integration. Focus on developing functional test procedures, supporting DO-160 and MIL-STD-461 testing, managing supplier first article inspections, and collaborating on certification with DERs.

Location: Torrance, California, United States; relocation to Hawthorne, California planned for summer. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents and must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR/EAR. Up to 35% domestic and international travel is required.

Salary: $90,000–$110,000 base salary per year plus equity.

What you will do

  • Design aerospace wire harnesses for actuation systems from schematics through manufacturing release.
  • Create and maintain harness schematics, wire lists, drawings, and bills of material.
  • Author functional test procedures for harness assemblies and integrated systems.
  • Support DO-160 environmental testing, MIL-STD-461 EMI/EMC testing, and program-specific qualification plans.
  • Coordinate supplier builds, AS9102 first article inspections, production readiness, and ongoing supplier engineering support.
  • Collaborate with electrical hardware, motor control, firmware, mechanical engineering, seat OEM customers, and DERs during integration, qualification, and certification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related engineering field; equivalent professional experience may substitute for the degree.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience designing wire harnesses for commercial aerospace.
  • Experience authoring functional test procedures and supporting qualification testing.
  • U.S. Person status as defined under ITAR/EAR.
  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status is required.

Nice to have

  • Aircraft seat program experience.
  • Experience with Rapid Harness or equivalent electrical CAD tools such as Mentor Capital, Zuken E3, or Creo Schematics.
  • Experience supporting AS9102 first article inspections.
  • Knowledge of Boeing D6 series wiring standards and Airbus wiring standards such as ABD0100 or A350 standards.
  • Familiarity with CAN bus, matrix communication architectures, DER certification work, or startup product development.
