TL;DR
Quality Engineer III (Propulsion) (Aerospace Manufacturing): Developing and maintaining inspection plans, quality processes, and acceptance records for propulsion components and flight hardware with an accent on traceability, compliance, and product reliability. Focus on investigating non-conformances, implementing corrective actions, validating metrology systems, and improving inspection efficiency across manufacturing and testing.

Location: Onsite at the Production and Test facility north of Cedar Park in Briggs, Texas, United States

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain inspection plans for propulsion components and sub-assemblies, including engines, valves, and tubing.
  • Partner with design engineering and manufacturing teams to create quality plans for flight products, including first article and detailed inspection planning.
  • Maintain inspection equipment, training, standard work instructions, tool control, calibration processes, and metrology system validation.
  • Identify, contain, and document non-conformances; develop quarantine plans and corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Track production quality data, first-pass yield, and non-conformance trends using basic statistical analysis.
  • Lead and support Quality Inspectors, conduct product and process audits, and execute quality improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, quality, or design engineering; 8+ years is desired.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, GD&T, and quality control documentation.
  • Experience with aerospace quality, military, or government standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, teamwork, and flexibility.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations under ITAR.

Nice to have

  • Experience with aerospace manufacturing processes, fluids, propulsion, machining, casting, welding, cleaning, integration, and testing.
  • Knowledge of Lean, measurement systems analysis, design of experiments, statistical process control, root cause analysis, APQP, PFMEA, control plans, and metrology.
  • Experience with AS9100 or ISO 9001; IPC certification or ASQ CQE.
  • Experience operating and maintaining cleanrooms under FS209E, ISO 14644-1, or equivalent standards.
