TL;DR
Product Assurance Engineer (Aerospace): Maintaining and improving an AS9100-certified quality management system across aerospace and defense hardware and software programs with an accent on compliance, inspection, supplier quality, and product lifecycle assurance. Focus on managing non-conformances and CAPA, conducting root cause analysis and supplier audits, and supporting mission-critical audits and delivery milestones.

Location: Onsite in San Diego, California, United States. Applicants must be U.S. Persons and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Salary: $90,000–$120,000 USD annually, base salary only.

What you will do

  • Maintain and continuously improve the AS9100-certified Quality Management System in alignment with ISO 9001, MIL-STD, NASA, and MDA requirements.
  • Establish and enforce quality standards across the product lifecycle, from supplier qualification through final delivery, in partnership with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and program management.
  • Lead inspections of aerospace and defense hardware and software programs against design, engineering, and customer specifications.
  • Manage non-conformance reports and CAPA processes, including root cause analysis and timely corrective action.
  • Conduct supplier quality audits and assessments and support internal, certification, customer, and regulatory audits.
  • Report quality metrics, risks, and program status while leading continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen product quality and mission readiness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality assurance, or a related technical field with 5 years of quality engineering experience; equivalent experience or a relevant master’s degree may qualify.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management system requirements and practices.
  • Experience with non-conformance management, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action processes such as 8D and CAPA.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD, NASA, and/or MDA quality and reliability requirements.
  • Experience conducting or supporting supplier quality audits and assessments.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance and meet U.S. Person requirements under ITAR and EAR regulations.

Nice to have

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Quality Auditor certification.
  • Experience in an aerospace, defense, or space manufacturing environment.
