Hardware Quality Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Menlo Park, California; full-time onsite

Salary: $123,000 base salary plus bonus, stock options, and benefits

What you will do

• Develop and maintain quality processes for PCB assemblies, electronic and electromechanical hardware, cable assemblies, machined components, and structural hardware.
• Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections and develop inspection plans, acceptance criteria, and quality documentation.
• Lead root cause investigations into manufacturing defects, supplier issues, and field failures using structured problem-solving methods.
• Drive corrective and preventive actions, verify their effectiveness, and use quality metrics to reduce defects.
• Partner with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and suppliers to improve product quality and manufacturability.
• Support supplier qualification, audits, first article inspections, quality management systems, and compliance with applicable industry standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, quality, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in hardware quality assurance or quality engineering.
• Experience with PCB assemblies, electronic assemblies, and electromechanical products in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies, including experience using quality data for process improvement.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, bills of materials, and manufacturing documentation.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. personnel security clearance and required ITAR authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, or other quality management systems.
• Experience with contract manufacturers, supplier quality programs, first article inspections, or nonconforming material management.
• Familiarity with Arena or another PLM system, NetSuite or another ERP system, Altium Designer, and SolidWorks.
• IPC certification or experience applying IPC workmanship standards.
• Experience supporting aerospace, defense, robotics, or other high-reliability hardware products.
