Quality Inspector IV (NDT) (Aerospace)

Location: North Austin, Texas, United States; work in fabrication shops, manufacturing floors, and outdoor environments. U.S. Person status is required due to ITAR/EAR requirements. Occasional travel of up to 15% to launch sites, supplier facilities, or external inspection facilities.

What you will do

• Perform in-process and final inspections of weldments, pressure vessels, structural components, and fabricated ground support equipment.
• Conduct Magnetic Particle, Radiographic, Visual, and Liquid Penetrant Testing; interpret results and make code-based accept/reject decisions.
• Create weld maps, NDT reports, hydrostatic test documentation, material traceability records, and customer data packages.
• Coordinate external radiographic, laser tracking, CMM, metrology, and other specialized inspection services.
• Perform receiving inspections, verify supplier documentation, and issue nonconformance reports for discrepant materials.
• Collaborate with fabrication, welding, engineering, and GSE operations teams on root cause analysis, corrective actions, and process improvement.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of quality inspection experience in welding, fabrication, or aerospace manufacturing.
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required.
• Level 2 or Level 3 NDT certifications required in MT, RT, VT, and PT.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1, AWS D1.2, ASME Sections VIII and IX, AS9100, engineering drawings, weld symbols, GD&T, and precision measurement.
• Experience with pressure vessel inspection, hydrostatic testing, technical reporting, and quality management software.
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or other protected individual eligible under applicable export regulations.

Nice to have

• Degree in welding engineering, manufacturing engineering, welding technology, quality assurance, or a related technical field.
• Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection, NASA GSE standards, aerospace pressure vessels, fluid systems, and structural weldments.
• Experience with stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, exotic alloys, orbital welding, or automated welding systems.
• Experience with ETQ, TrackWise, SAP QM, laser tracking, CMM inspection, cryogenic systems, or vendor quality management.
