Focus on developing PAUT and digital radiography procedures, auditing examinations against engineering requirements and codes, and building technician qualification capabilities for future fusion power plants.
Location: Devens, Massachusetts, United States; on-site. Occasional travel and work on nights, weekends, or on-call may be required.
Salary: $110,000–$185,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do
- Lead NDT operations and directly manage the NDT supervisor and technician team.
- Serve as the Responsible Level III and Certifying Authority for personnel qualification and certification.
- Oversee inspections across manufacturing, CFS-2 construction, tokamak assembly, and vendor sites using UT/PAUT, RT, ET, PT, MT, and VT.
- Develop and scale NDT capabilities, procedures, training frameworks, and technical competencies from SPARC manufacturing to the future ARC fleet.
- Partner with EHS Radiation Safety to maintain safe and compliant industrial radiography operations.
- Audit examinations, work instructions, procedures, and results; use findings to support nonconformances, RCCA, and process improvements.
Requirements
- 12+ years of NDT experience with critical components, including heavy-wall welds, complex geometries, or other high-integrity applications.
- Level III certification under ASNT, NAS 410, or ISO 9712 in UT/PAUT and RT.
- Strong knowledge of PAUT, encoded scanning, relevant codes and standards, including ASME Section V and VIII.2, and applicable ASTM NDT standards.
- At least 3 years of managerial or supervisory experience leading an NDT team.
- Working knowledge of PT, MT, and VT, plus hands-on experience with CR or DR industrial radiography.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and work safely around heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, and cryogenics.
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Electrical, or related Engineering.
- Experience assembling large metallic structures.
- Level III certification in ET, or Level II certification with a documented path to Level III.
- Experience serving as or qualifying as an industrial Radiation Safety Officer for radiography.
- Additional Level III certifications in PT, VT, or MT; experience with GD&T, metrology, Minitab, JMP, Excel/VBA, or Visio.
