Principal Network Software Engineer (Space Systems)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite headquarters role. U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements, and ITAR eligibility rules apply.

Base salary: $175,000–$259,000 USD annually. Total compensation, including equity: $223,000–$339,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Manage software development and integration for routers, radios, and laser communication devices across spacecraft constellations.
• Coordinate suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, and internal engineering teams to deliver integrated systems and meet program milestones.
• Design simulation and testing approaches for constellation networking.
• Define KPIs, staffing plans, development rhythms, and major integration points with senior leadership.
• Develop software development standards and procedures while driving feedback, quality improvements, and compliance with customer requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 12+ years of relevant industry experience, including 3+ years managing projects and interfacing with external contractors.
• Thorough understanding of network software and the software development lifecycle.
• Experience with Jira and systems engineering methods, including requirements management, systems trades, performance characterization, and interface management.
• Active TS/SCI clearance and U.S. citizenship required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in aerospace, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience with SDA NEBULA architectures, cybersecurity controls, encryption, agile leadership, or project management certifications.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, DevSecOps, Microsoft Project, or Smartsheet.
• RF, spacecraft, embedded systems, or government program experience.
